| Arms Moravia: CZ-G2000
Review
Purchase
Here's a review that I found on the internet. I have not found this
gun locally yet.
I
bought the pistol from Wolverine Supplies back in Feb. or so. The gun was
777 dollars, plus ~40 for the holster. It came with 2 mags and a nice little
case. The 2 extra mags that I have were 55 a piece. They are 10 round only,
with a large plastic base. In
europe they sell 15 rounders and extended 19 round magazines.
The gun is manufactured by a company called Arms Moravia, NOT CZ. The pistol
is a polymer frame, steel slide, an evolution of the Glock design. The
barrel locks (Sig style) into the slide. The barrel is a 106mm stainless
steel barrel. In
Europe the gun comes with a 102mm non-stainless barrel, but to get the
pistol into Canada they have a 106mm barrel. The barrel is apparently made
by Lothar Walther in Germany, but I have no way to veryfy this.
The ergonomics are outstanding on the gun. It fits like a glove and points
very naturally. The front of the trigger gaurd is very wide, twice the width
of a Glock trigger guard, which makes for easy control of muzzle flip.
Unfortunatley this means that very few holsters will fit the gun. I have
found that my SIG 226 Dillon CLS conceallment holster will fit the CZ G2000.
There is no safety on the gun. There is a decocker on the top of the slide,
kind of like the P99 decocker. The gun is a double action/single action. The
double action is not as slick as a Colt revolver, but it is quite
serviceable. The single action has a bit of travel before it enages, but
breaks cleanly. The slide has cocking serrations front and back. The sights
are very good, they are no-snag Novak style sights with the standard 3-dot
setup. The top of the slide is serrated along the sight radius to prevent
glare.
The gun will digest everything from 115 grain Winchester Silvertips to 147
grain Federal HydraShoks without a hiccup. Most of the time I feed it
handloads consisting of 124 grain hard cast lead bullets, cooking along at
1100 fps, just mild target loads. The gun sits a little bit higher in my
hand than my Glock 22 and it wieghs less than the Glock. The wieght os the
CZ G 2000 is about 700 grams, so under 2 pounds. Very light wieght, very
controlable during rapid fire.
The mag release button and slide stop are very intuitive, makes for
lightning quick reloads. The first time I ever shot the gun was at an IPSC
match, and I did quite well, besting my personal best score with my Taurus
PT-92 ( a gun that I have shot for 4 years) by a significant margin. I
competed in the Sask provincials this year, and got a medal placing in
Standard. I should have been in Production class, but I would have been the
only guy. The guy who won standard (my dad) was using a Dlask/Caspian single
stack 1911 .45 that is just a tack driver. Dlask builds them nice. Sigh. A
little hard to compete with a box-stock gun against a 2k tack driver. It was
still very fun. But I digress.
The CZ G2000 is quite an accurate gun. I have put about 600 rounds through
it, shooting it only in matches, and the majority of the hits are A-zone. I
have not yet formally tested the accuracy, but at 25 meters using the old
non-PC IPSC targets I could put 9 out of 10 shots into the A-Zone of the
"head", with one flyer in the B-Zone. It is a great gun that is very well
priced, performs admirably, is a joy to shoot, and you do not see everybody
else with one. I highly recommend this firearm.
